As a new patient, do I need to bring anything?
Open question icon

You don't need to bring anything to your initial visit. However, you can download and complete the New Patient Form (PDF) to save time.

When should I call a podiatrist for an appointment?
Open question icon

No pain is normal, especially if it has been going on for longer than one week. Have it evaluated and treated to avoid long-term problems!

What are my payment options?
Open question icon

We accept credit cards, cash, and checks.

Do you accept walk-in appointments?
Open question icon

Some same-day walk-in appointments are accepted. It all depends on the patient load for that day or if there are any cancelations in the schedule.

What are custom foot orthotics?
Open question icon

Orthotics are custom foot supports that replace over-the-counter supports found in store-bought shoes. Custom inserts hug your foot more efficiently than over-the-counter products to significantly aid in balancing the biomechanical inadequacies of your feet and legs. The orthotic slips into a shoe and alleviates many kinds of foot, ankle, leg, knee, hip, back pain, and just plain tired, cramping feet. Our office specializes in making our patients expert custom-made foot orthotics.

Does Medicare pay for diabetic shoes and inserts?
Open question icon

Medicare will cover diabetic shoes and inserts at 80%. Patients must meet and have specific qualifying conditions verified by the physician managing their diabetes. If diabetic, you should have an annual foot evaluation performed by a podiatrist to determine if you are eligible for this benefit through Medicare or other insurance carriers.

Do you accept Workers' Comp?
Open question icon

We accept Workers' Comp and most insurance plans.

Are there any insurances that you don’t accept?
Open question icon

We do not accept ElderOne, Wellcare, and straight Medicaid.

Can you take x-rays in your office?
Open question icon

Yes!

What causes heel pain?
Open question icon

Heel pain is usually not caused by one single incident or injury. Repetitive stress or pounding of the heel can cause heel pain. Other common causes include:
• inflammation of the plantar fascia
• inflammation of the back of the heel
• inflammation of the heel pad
• progressive degeneration of the Achilles tendon
• stress fracture caused by repetitive stress to the heel

What are corns and calluses?
Open question icon

Corns and calluses are thick, hardened layers of skin. Corn and calluses occur when your skin tries to protect itself against friction and pressure. The most common areas of development are on your feet and toes. If corns and calluses are causing discomfort, you should seek treatment. We provide treatment for these somewhat unsightly painful conditions. Don’t hesitate to contact us today.

What is a hammertoe?
Open question icon

A hammertoe is a contracture (bending) of one or both joints of the second, third, fourth, or fifth toes. This abnormal bending can put pressure on the toe when wearing shoes, causing painful problems. Conservative and surgical treatment options are available to treat hammertoes.

How can you tell if you have an infected ingrown toenail?
Open question icon

You may have an infected ingrown toenail if there are any signs of redness, swelling, pain, and drainage, such as puss coming from the area. If you notice any of these symptoms, contact your podiatric physician immediately.

What is plantar fasciitis?
Open question icon

The plantar fascia is the thick connective tissue on the bottom of the foot. This tissue connects the heel bone to the toes. It is responsible for creating the arch in your foot. Plantar Fascitis is inflammation of the plantar fascia.

Should I see you if I have diabetes?
Open question icon

Yes. Anyone with diabetes or a diabetic foot problem should see us. Even if you do not have a diabetic foot problem (or worse, a diabetic foot infection) right now, you should make an appointment. If diabetic, you should see us at least once a year. However, you should have exams or treatments done every 2–3 months if one is at higher risk through poor circulation or numbness in the feet. Dr. Ellie will evaluate your feet to assess the risk for complications like nerve damage and circulation problems. You may benefit from a simple shoe modification or special insole (a foot orthotic) to help distribute pressure across the bottom of your feet and help prevent open sores or infections from developing.

Can you help me if my feet are numb?
Open question icon

Possibly. Numbness, including burning, tingling, and shooting pain, can be due to diabetic neuropathy or other types of neuropathy. A patient with a nerve entrapment can have numbness, burning pain, or other abnormal sensations in their foot. Some nerve problems our foot doctors see include pinched nerves, tarsal tunnel syndrome, and neuroma pain. Dr. Ellie will thoroughly evaluate the cause of your numbness, burning, or tingling, and in some cases, they will be able to restore normal sensation.

Is there anything you can do for toenail fungus?
Open question icon

Yes. There are oral and topical medications available to rid this unsightly condition. If medicine fails, surgery can be performed in the office to remove part or all of a fungal nail.
